The Salon is a really classy joint. Letâ¬"s be fair, there are a lot of self-proclaimed â¬Sbeauty salonsâ¬ around the place but The Salon in Bedminster is quite clearly one of the best around. The treatments they offer and the use of the otherwise very expensive beauty products during treatment is a good enough reason to try them out.The Salon is a really classy joint. Despite a few changes Fishminster remains a favourite with myself and my family. The service and range of fishy food on offer is exemplary and their cod reminds me of the fish we used to get at our local chippy when I was a lad (and all this were fields, 'eee!). The breaded Calamari is a particular treat being cooked to perfection as squid should be. The Whitebait is equally good and their chips taste like chips should. Bells and Balls is full of people enthusiastic about what theyâ¬"re doing, making preparing for a party as fun as it should be. Theyâ¬"re pretty knowledgeable and the prices are fairly competitive, as well as the whole shop being full of lots of little party oddities worth browsing through. Eddyâ¬"s is the local alternative to big electrical chain stores. The advantages of buying these goods from a smaller independent shop I think outweigh the disadvantages. Obviously there is more choice in the bigger generic shops; however with more choice comes more confusion- with me at least! The thing with Eddyâ¬"s is, you are talking to someone who actually knows what heâ¬"s talking about and you have the added bonus of a more personal service, which includes delivery and installation. Bar Salt is a mixed bag, no one hand it is an ideal location to watch sports, especially the football for the vibe and atmosphere. However the food could be better and the drinks a bit less pricey. Itâ¬"s been revamped a few years ago, and it is an improvement, although there are still areas that need work, like the music being just that bit too loud. This is a great day out to an impressive independently owned garden centre with an incredibly beautiful garden and amazing panoramic views of the city. It has a lovely little cafÃ© that serves snacks and drinks, including vegetarian meals, and a childrenâ¬"s play area. I had a lovely stay at the Avonside, Alison the owner is thoroughly lovely and clearly loves her job. She took good care of me when I was here. The price is brilliant and what you get is real value for money. With reasonable priced drinks and food The White Hart is a good all-rounder. What sets this place apart from every other pub though is the unashamedly cheesy and fun entertainment. There are specially dedicated Elvis appreciation nights, long live the King, which are so much fun. And the alternate weekly Karaoke nights are hysterically funny. When I stayed at the 007 hostel I was firstly a bit perplexed about the name and apprehensive that I would be entering some tacky Bond fantasy land. However I discovered it is just a name, and the hostel itself was pleasantly surprising and completely adequate. The area can be a little scary at night time, but the hostel feels safe and the staff are really friendly and reassuring. I needed a room in Bedminster really last minute and the Cumberland Guest House was able to fit me in, which I greatly appreciated at the time. My stay was adequate- my room was fine and only Â£50 for a double which I thought was pretty good. The only downside was the distance from the guest house to the town centre. But the accommodation was clean, the staff friendly and the price was right.I needed a room in Bedminster really last minute and the Cumberland Guest House was able to fit me in, which I greatly appreciated at the time. Well what can I say about Rogues. The girls are lovely, young fun and chatty and Rogue is better than any hairdresser I know. He has been cutting my hair for what must be 20 years now. He's up to date with all the new styles, always cuts brilliantly and colours really well. He is so entertaining that it makes the trip in to Bedminster well worth it. Would I recommend him? Yeah your damn right he's the best! You just can't get that sense of humour and style anywhere else.Well what can I say about Rogues.
